All right, so we’ve all been there, right? We’re clicking like two, three, four times to get to that thing we need. And it happens every day and it can happen multiple times a day. So I want to talk to you real quick about why adding links to your calendar events is important to you as a business owner, consultant, whatever it is that you do. So real quick, I’m Adam Moody with Oasis Optimization. One, I love automations, stuff like this, but also saving time, productivity.

So if you’re running your own business, you’ve got maybe a small team or you’re by yourself, then time is important. Not only just that we have a limited amount of it, but who wants to spend their time clicking around? It’s a pain in the butt. And it’s also mentally fatiguing when you’re just like, I know I need to get to this thing, but it’s just taking up too much time.
So adding links to your calendar events, does two things. One, it’s going to force you, hopefully, to start using your calendar so you’re more realistic about how you’re using your time and how much time you actually have available. There’s some great tools that can help you with this one. I personally use and recommend is called Focuster, you can find the link down below. That’s a great tool that I really, really like. And it helps me because it does a two-way sync with Google Calendar so I can put my tasks into Focuster and it pops it into Calendar when there’s time available.
Really cool. But let’s say you’re just doing this manually. You’re using your calendar. And what you want to start doing is maybe you have a meeting, with a prospect, a potential client. Maybe you’ve got a client call, you’ve got some planning time, you’ve got R&D time, whatever it is that you just have a link handy to whatever it is you need. And so do this when you set up the event.
Now, the biggest timesaver, of course, comes from these recurring meetings you might have again, where maybe it’s a client call, maybe it’s a weekly team meeting, but have those links so that you don’t have to go in and maybe open up your project management software and then click on the right space and then drill down to the right area and the right note, whatever that is. Just have that one link you have it, it’s taken care of. You don’t have to think about it. And just to give you a little idea of how much time this could save, because it can be a little loose and just seem like it’s not that big of a deal if it only takes thirty seconds to do something.
But for example, let’s say you are solving a task that takes you thirty seconds a time that could just be clicking through four or five links to get somewhere and that this happens, let’s say, four times a day. All right. So I whipped out the calculator earlier. If this happened throughout the year, you will end up saving yourself one point five days, days worth of working time. And that’s just that one task. So you start thinking about this, how much time you spend doing all of these little things.
So that’s why, in the moment, it may seem like a pain in the butt. Like, I don’t want to go find this link. I need to get started. Take that 30 seconds or a minute, grab what you need, put it into the calendar event, especially for recurring events, and start saving yourself some real time. This stuff is great. It’s not only a time-saver, it makes others happier. Makes you more in control of things.
You feel like you’re on top of it because you will be less like mental overhead and fatigued and all of this stuff. So hopefully you start implementing this stuff and saving some time.
